The John Muir Institute of the Environment (JMIE) at the University of California, Davis (UCD),
has an opening for a one year postdoctoral scholar position who will work under the leadership
of Dr. Majdi Abou Najm, Associate Director of Initiatives.

natural resource supplies, environmental degradation, climate change, pollution, disease, and
social unrest, we at the Muir Institute are poised to unleash our unique, inter-disciplinary

Candidates should have a PhD in global climate change modeling, life cycle assessment,
geospatial optimization or data science or related fields in research area. Research experience
in climate change in diverse ecosystems, forest carbon sequestration, sustainable and
economical forest communities, wildfire prevention and loss of sequestered biomass. Coding
skills, knowledge in GIS, R or Matlab preferred. A small portion of the job responsibilities will be
to support One Climate scientific collaborations; scientific synthesis and review for news and
social media, and climate related blogs as a part of an overall strategic communication plan.
Ability to use social media platforms to utilize twitter, face book, Instagram, etc.
Salary: Commensurate on experience level starting at $53,460, benefits included for 12 months
