UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) educates the next generation of leaders and inspires environmental stewardship in thousands of students, community members, and visitors annually through its two science centers at Lake Tahoe. Our main facility, the Tahoe Science Center in Incline Village, Nevada is open year-round and our smaller Eriksson Education Center and demonstration garden in Tahoe City, California is open during the summer season only.
Enjoy hands-on activities, learn about the lake ecosystem and why it is changing, and find out how you can help keep Tahoe blue. When you visit one of TERC’s science centers, you learn the latest findings from the world-class UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center, a global leader in research, education and public outreach on lakes. TERC provide science-based information, engaging exhibits, interactive hands-on educational activities, 3-D movies, and education programs to inspire an interest in environmental sciences, stimulate curiosity, and motivate active conservation and preservation of fresh water resources.
TERC’s education and outreach programs are geared towards the general public, K-12 students, teachers, and volunteer docents. Programs include science center tours, green building tours, themed school field trips, afterschool program for high school students, teacher workshops and summer institutes, research workshops and conferences, public science lectures, and include other special events.
