Wildlands

California is an incredibly diverse state. It contains mountains, valleys, forests, deserts, grasslands, and coastlines that many would consider "wild" or pristine. However, the influence of human activities is far reaching, and even the most remote environments require intelligent and responsible management. What role do wildlands play in conservation, and how do land use and activities within and outside of these lands affect them? These are questions UC Davis researchers strive to answer.
