California’s water management system is deteriorating—on both economic and environmental fronts. Only a broad integrative approach will reverse the decline, according to a new book co-authored by experts from the Center for Watershed Sciences.

California features some of the most intensely managed watersheds in the world. Its rivers and streams nourish California’s economy and provide drinking water to most of its citizens. The lessons learned here, in watershed management and restoration, can be exported worldwide.
