Volunteers, Interns needed: Bayview Hunters Point Environmental Justice Task Force
Volunteer and Interns needed as "problem solvers" for Bayview Hunters Point Environmental Justice Task Force
from Bayview Hunters Point:
GET INVOLVED WITH THE BAYVIEW HUNTERS POINT ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE TASK FORCE!
The Bayview Hunters Point Environmental Justice Task Force is seeking 2-3 new volunteers and/or interns to assist with the project as "Problem Solvers."
The Task Force is a community-led, multi-stakeholder problem-solving collaborative to remedy pollution problems and violations reported by residents at the monthly Task Force meetings or on www.bvhp-ivan.org website. The BVHP EJ Task Force is part of the statewide IVAN network - Identifying Violations Affecting Neighborhoods.
Problem Solvers receive notification of online complaints filed on www.bvhp-ivan.org. The Problem Solver then reviews the complaints. If the complaint appears legitimate, the Problem Solver approves the complaint for posting and viewing on the www.bvhp-ivan.org website, and follows up with the appropriate regulatory agency to ensure they received the complaint and will respond. The Problem Solver team will also meet monthly by phone to review the process and address any problems or challenges with the complaint system, our responsiveness, and website operations.
Time commitment is minimal, usually no more than two hours per month with the opportunity for more extensive involvement in the Task Force project.
The Task Force was launched by Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice in July 2015.
