The John Muir Institute of the Environment is increasingly becoming the first place outside stakeholders come to find expertise on environmental issues. Affiliation with JMIE guarantees inclusion in the JMIE database of environmental experts at UC Davis which serves as a vehicle for showcasing the substantial strengths and expertise in environmental scholarship at the university.
JMIE welcomes affiliation from UC Davis faculty and researchers (academic senate and academic federation). We look forward to your participation in JMIE collaborations, events and affairs.

Our Organizational Structure
The John Muir Institute for the Environment is one of thirteen organized research units (ORU) on the UC Davis campus, requiring the approval by the UC Davis Academic Senate and the UC Academic Senate. We provide direct access to the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Research through our Director’s appointment as Associate Vice Chancellor for Interdisciplinary Environmental Research.
