Junior Specialist: Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Research

Full time Salary: $34,680 per year – this is a 50 % temporary position to 6/30/2012

Position Description: This position entails carrying out molecular biology and biochemistry research studies in the Center for Health & the Environment. This research is under the direction of Dr. Chris Vogel. Position duties will involve:

• Working with cell culture
• DNA Genotyping, RNA isolation, PCR, Gelshift assay, Western blot techniques
• Immunological methods, flow cytometry
• maintaining of protocols, assistance with manuscript preparation

Qualifications:

B.S. degree in a relevant field is required.

The person should have a solid background in Molecular biology and biochemistry research. Knowledge in the field of immunological methods is a plus.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Working with cell culture
• Preparation of dentritic cells and macrophages
• DNA Genotyping, RNA isolation, PCR, Gelshift assay, Western blot techniques
• Immunological methods, flow cytometry
• Maintaining of protocols, assistance with manuscript preparation
• Scientific writing ability and professional work style
