The UC Davis Arboretum was founded in 1936 to support teaching and research at the University of California. The Arboretum occupies 100 acres along the banks of the old north channel of Putah Creek, in California's Central Valley. Our collections include 22,000 trees and plants adapted to a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The plants are arranged in a series of gardens that represent different geographic areas, plant groups, or horticultural themes.

Job Summary

Under supervision of the GIS Manager, work in coordination with the Curator to create and maintain GIS data, create and maintain cartographic quality maps, survey newly installed features in the UC Davis Arboretum landscape using GPS, create and update GIS related workflow documentation, and perform additional related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS 10 Desktop software and extensions.
- Proficiency with Esri geodatabase model.
- Experience working with Esri ArcSDE enterprise geodatabases in a versioned environment.
- Cartographic skills.
- Experience with mapping or survey grade GPS data collection.
-Technical writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelors in Geography, Horticulture, Botany, Biology, or related field.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS Server.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS Data Reviewer.
- Experience with Trimble GPS Analyst and GPScorrect.
- Experience with Esri ArcPad.
- Experience with web development including HTML, Adobe Flex, and Action Script.
