Invention, Entrepreneurship
New technologies have the power to increase our ability to both exploit and conserve natural resources. Technology has vastly improved the standard of living, while continually increasing the scope and scale of our economic activity. This has most often come at an environmental cost, but a new wave of innovation is leading to more sustainable ways to provide goods and services. A wide range of technologies are making energy production more renewable, increasing energy efficiency, reducing the need for fertilizer and water in agriculture, reducing the quantity of paper needed for everyday business, and changing the ways we travel and communicate. Much of this innovation is driven by entrepreneurship and other profit motivated institutions. It is important to further incentivize the sort of innovation and promote the adoption of these innovations on a broad scale.
