Disease

Disease plays in important role in regulating natural populations, but can also be a major cause of endangerment. Introduced diseases, in particular, can devastate entire species. In California, sudden oak death, chitrid fungus, and avian flu epidemics are major concerns in conservation. Researchers at UC Davis are working to understand how diseases spread and impact population and communities.
