Deltas and Estuaries

Estuaries and deltas are among the most biologically productive ecosystems on earth. Unfortunately, the majority of deltas and estuaries have been lost to urban development and farming, or severely altered by water diversions, introduction of invasive species, and flood control efforts. Sea level rise cause by climate change also threatens to drown these beautiful habitats. The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and the San Francisco Bay Estuary face many of these threats.
