To UCD Environmental Health Sciences Core Center Faculty,
The Community Outreach and Engagement Core of the UCD Environmental Health Science Center is inviting you to participate in our first pilot of two modules of our curriculum "Community-Academic Partnerships for Environmental Justice and Health Equity" which will take place March 15th 2017 in Fresno CA.
This invitation is for both community groups and academics, who are broadly interested in environmental health and want to acquire skills and foundational knowledge important when engaging in efficient and successful community-academic partnerships.
This curriculum is the product of a cross-country partnership between the University of California, Davis and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Our goal is to develop a curriculum with trainings that strengthen the capacity for equitable partnership development among community and academic partners. We are collaborating with Nayamin Martinez from the Central California Environmental Justice Network and Sarah Sharpe from the Central California Asthma Collaborative to conduct the training. This will also be an opportunity to meet faculty from UC Merced and Fresno State.
This whole day event (approximately from 9am-5pm, tentative agenda below) will lead participants through two training modules, one that will provide practical skills to strengthen capacity to promote environmental justice through research and a second that will cover principles of partnership development between academics and community groups. A detailed agenda will be sent to participants after registration.
This training will take place March 15th in Fresno, California. The exact location in Fresno will be determined shortly.
Seats are limited so please RSVP as soon as possible. Registration will close on March 6th. A tentative agenda is below. Please direct questions to Karen Andrade at kandrade @ucdavis.edu
