Art and literature are important means by which people communicate ideas and values. They are powerful tools of argument that can focus peoples’ critical attention on the way in which we interact with the natural world. Art can devastatingly highlight the destruction and suffering caused by the environmental exploitation, or it can provide a vision for a better way of life. Creating a culture that values the human connection to the natural world in necessary to provide the will and desire to create an environmentally sustainable society.
